My Story

Hello there, I'm Kirsty, a self-taught artist and silversmith from Galway, now settled in the ancient city of Winchester.

With a passion for visual arts since childhood, I initially pursued painting, photography, and filmmaking, earning an honours degree in Film Production from the University of the Arts London. My graduation documentary, Cáiliúil, garnered acclaim at the Galway Film Fleadh.

After a rewarding stint in the film industry, motherhood inspired a shift in my creative focus. In 2020, while raising three young children, I turned sleepless nights into productive hours, teaching myself the art of jewellery-making through tutorials. Driven by a lifelong love for handcrafted pieces, I set up a small home studio, beginning my journey into silversmithing.

My designs draw inspiration from Celtic, Norse, and Saxon history, reflecting my passion for these ancient cultures. The name Silverstrand Jewellery is a tribute to a cherished beach in Galway, a place of inspiration and daydreams from my youth.

Warm regards,

Kirsty
